First Alert: North shore surf to hit advisory levels Monday and Tuesday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A high surf advisory will be in effect for north-facing shores from 6 a.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Tuesday as a new north swell brings higher waves.
The National Weather Service’s Honolulu forecast office said waves of 14 to 18 feet will be possible when the swell peaks Monday evening into Tuesday before gradually declining.
The medium- to long-period moderate swell will also generate strong breaking waves and strong currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous. Heed all advice from ocean safety lifeguards.
